Phoenix Pulse head coach Louie Alas admitted that the team is still at a loss as to how and when the indefinite suspension of Calvin Abueva will be resolved.
The controversial forward has been under suspension since June 4 for two separate on-court incidents, one involving the girlfriend of Blackwater rookie Ray Parks and the other with TNT import Terrence Jones.
“Kailangan bigyan ng linaw yung tao kasi parang nava-violate mo yung rights nya,” added the former TNT (then Mobiline) mentor.
Alas bared that Abueva has already submitted a letter to the Games and Amusement Board (GAB), the Philippine government’s regulatory body for professional sports, explaining his side of the story with regards to the incident with Jones.
Prior to the GAB letter, Abueva was also required by league commissioner Willie Marcial to submit a letter of apology addressed to the offended parties and the 2013 Rookie of the Year has already complied.
“Sabi nila, magbigay daw ng letter. Ginawa naman ni Calvin two weeks ago pero until now wala pa,” said Alas.
The Fuel Masters have struggled heavily in the ongoing Commissioner’s Cup and while the return of Abueva would have minimal impact, Alas believes having the ‘Beast’ back would still be beneficial to the team.
