Magnolia Hotshots governor Rene Pardo was slapped by the PBA with a penalty of P50,000 after further review of the game tape revealed that the long-time team official hit the alleged accomplice of ‘Spider-Man’ while he was being escorted out of the playing court by security personnel.
Commissioner Willie Marcial announced the latest penalty assessment after meeting with Pardo during the league’s Board Meeting yesterday.
Paolo Felizarta, the man dressed as ‘Spider-Man’, caused controversy during Game 5 of the recently concluded Philippine Cup Finals between eventual champion San Miguel and sister team Magnolia by running the full length of the court during the waning minutes of the game while flashing a hand-written sign.
Felizarta, in the process, hit an oblivious June Mar Fajardo which knocked the SMB big man down and resulted in delay of the resumption of the game.
Marcial initially came down with sanctions on SMB players Ronald Tubid and Kelly Nabong as well as team officials Daniel Henares and Ramon Ibanez.
Tubid and Nabong were fined P75,000 each along with a three-game suspension while Henares and Ibanez got poorer by P50,000 and were suspended for two games.
