Magnolia rolls to 5th straight win with 99-88 whipping of Meralco in Zamboanga

Mark Barroca made a triumphant homecoming as the 33-year old Gilas playmaker led the streaking Magnolia Hotshots to another victory, this time against the Meralco Bolts in the 2019 PBA Commissioner’s Cup, Saturday night at the MVA City Coliseum in Zamboanga

Barroca, who scored 21 points in the 99-88 win, returned to the same venue where he played during his grade school and high school years before taking his act to Manila.

The Hotshots improved to 5-2 after picking up their 5th consecutive victory while the Bolts, who paraded a new import in Delroy James, dropped to 3-6 after absorbing the 4th loss in a row.

James Farr finished with a double-double of 19 points and 17 boards while Paul Lee added 18 markers including 4 booming triples.

Ian Sangalang had a double-double as well with 11 points and 10 rebounds but committed a team-high 6 turnovers.

James paced the Bolts with 35 points while Chris Newsome and Mike Tolomia, another hometown hero, contributed 10 and 8 points, respectively.
