Blackwater’s main men got stymied. But not the rest of the Elite.
With Allein Maliksi taking the lead on offense Blackwater held off Rain or Shine, 98-92, Sunday to bounce back from a stinging loss in the PBA Commissioner’s Cup at the Ynares Center in Antipolo.
Maliksi finished with 19 points in leading the Elite’s balanced offensive that, for once, was not anchored on from Alex Stepheson and Bobby Ray Parks, who both experienced shooting woes.
Still, the two did their part.
Parks, good for 24 points an outing, wound up with only 16 after going 3-of-10 from the field, but capped a perfect 10-of-10 shooting from the stripes with six crucial free throws in the stretch that helped keep the Elasto Painters at bay.
Stepheson, who came into the game averaging 24.75 points and 23.75 rebounds, delivered a game-high 20 boards but only chipped in 13 markers after making just five of his 11 shots and three of 11 charity tries.
