JP Erram finally came up with the game NLEX coach Yeng Guiao was expecting from him.
Marion Magat coming up with a career game at a time the Road Warriors needed him is also a very welcome bonus.
Erram and new frontline partner Magat spearheaded a charge that resulted in a 107-97 victory over weary Columbian Sunday, NLEX’s first in the PBA Philippine Cup at the Smart Araneta Coliseum.
Erram, Magat and Kenneth Ighalo gave the Road Warriors the good start Guiao wanted while Kevin Alas and Philip Paniamogan helped sustain the charge that pointed them to the wire-to-wire win, their first in four games.
“We’re very happy with the way Poy (Erram) started out this game,” said Guiao of the center he traded for from Blackwater who wound up with 23 points, 10 rebounds, six assists and five blocked shots for his best game yet with his new team.
“He’s starting to settle down, which was not happening in the first two, three games. Medyo uncomfortable pa siya and hindi pa siya nakakakuha ng timing niya. But slowly he’s getting there,” added Guiao.
