NorthPort stays in the hunt for a playoff spot with 94-84 win over Alaska

NorthPort continued its amazing climb back to playoff contention, taking down struggling Alaska 94-84, Wednesday night at the Smart Araneta Coliseum.

Batang Pier stars Sean Anthony and Stanley Pringle combined for all but three of the team’s points in the penultimate period to hack out the lopsided win and keep alive its drive for a place in the quarterfinal round of the 2019 PBA Philippine Cup.

After seeing their 11-point lead disappear in the blink of an eye, the Fil-Am duo took matters into their own hands to put the game safely away from the Aces.

“It was a total team effort, pero exceptional iyung dalawa, Sean Anthony and Stanley Pringle,” said Batang Pier coach Pido Jarencio.

“But everybody did their share. Ready to play naman lahat talaga,” added the visually elated mentor.

Anthony came off the bench to lead the team in scoring with 24 points to go along with 17 boards. Pringle added 21 while Moala Tuatuaa and Jonathan Grey added 14 and 13 points respectively.

The win improved NorthPort’s record to 4-6 and will need to win its remaining game against Brgy. Ginebra on April 3 to make it to the next stage.

The scores:

NorthPort 94 – Anthony 24, Pringle 21, Tautuaa 14, Grey 13, Flores 6, Taha 6, Bolick 3, Guinto 3, Elorde 2, Sollano 2, Lanete 0.
