The PBA has slapped a total of P264,000 worth of fines just for the Phoenix Pulse-TNT match alone which happened last Sunday, June 2 at the Ynares Center in Antipolo City.
Calvin Abueva, as expected, received the brunt of the sanctions with a P70,000 fine (P20,000 for obscene gestures, verbal altercation with a fan and P50,000 for the clothesline tackle on TNT import Terrence Jones), plus indefinite suspension.
Jones received a similar amount of P70,000 (P50,000 for hitting Calvin Abueva in the groin area and P20,000 for pushing referee Joel Baldago).
Phoenix Pulse head coach Louie Alas was penalized with a P40,000 fine for flagrant misconduct and for issuing statements detrimental to the league, plus a two-game suspension.
The Semerad twins, David and Anthony, were fined P20,000 each for doing a fighting stance.
TNT active consultant Mark Dickel was fined P21,000 (P20,000 for throwing the ball at an official and P1,000 for disrespectful behavior).
TNT assistant manager Miguel Fernandez was fined P10,000 for approaching the official’s table.
Don Trollano and Alex Mallari were fined P5,000 each for almost coming to blows (FFP1).
Phoenix import Rob Dozier was fined P1,000 for second motion while Jason Castro and Jason Perkins received a similar amount for verbal altercation.
In addition, the league suspended referee Bing Oliva for 10 games for missing Jones’ hit on Abueva’s groin area.
