The 29-year old Garcia, who was chosen 6th overall by GlobalPort during the 2013 PBA Rookie Draft, has been inactive for the past nine months after being placed on the ‘freezer’ by TNT. He played for Rain or Shine in a recent tune-up match but was left unsigned leaving the door open for his stint with the Fuel Masters.
Potts, on the other hand, spent the last 2 seasons with Alaska but was hardly used. He failed to strike another deal with the Wilfred Uytengsu-owned squad after his contract expired at the end of the Commissioner’s Cup. The 26-year old former San Beda stalwart was chosen 18th overall by the Aces in the 2017 draft.
Both players signed short-term deals and an extension will depend on the duo’s performance in the upcoming Governors’ Cup.
“Of course, performance will dictate their potential for extension,” said team manager Paolo Bugia.
“They were primarily acquired to fill in the spots of our depleted lineup. With (Calvin) Abueva still suspended and (LA) Revilla still recovering from an ankle injury,” added the former PBA player.
