NorthPort head coach Pido Jarencio admitted that he was caught off-guard when Phoenix Pulse import Richard Howell suddenly cursed him out of the blue, without any provocation during their game Wednesday night at the Smart Araneta Coliseum.
The incident happened during the 8-minute mark of the 4th quarter with the Batang Pier trailing by 7, 64-71.
With Prince Ibeh on the stripe about to take his free throws, Jarencio was giving out instructions to Moala Tauatuaa when Howell approached him and blurted out curse words.
“May sinasabi ako kay Mo, tapos minura niya ako,” said a seething Jarencio.
Kaya kami nagre-react. Bakit niya ako mumurahin?”
Players from both teams as well as venue security rushed to pacify the two while Ferrer continued to clarify things with Howell.
“Oo minura.
Howell and Jarencio were both assessed technical fouls for using profane language.
