The Rain or Shine Elasto Painters have dealt disgruntled big man Raymond Almazan to the Meralco Bolts for two future first round draft picks.
This development was confirmed by Rain or Shine Governor Momerto Mondragon.
“Almazan is no longer with us. We just signed a trade with Meralco for two first round picks — 2019 and 2021. We just submitted this to the PBA office last Friday. He always has a problem with his coach,” said the amiable team executive.
The deal has already been approved by the Commissioner’s Office, Tuesday afternoon.
The 29-year old Almazan, who was picked 3rd overall by Rain or Shine in the 2013 PBA Rookie Draft, went AWOL just last October after having a misunderstanding with head coach Caloy Garcia. The two seemed to have patched things up after team management intervened and the reed-thin center was back in the line-up for the Philippine Cup.
The 6-foot-7 native of Orion, Bataan, however, appeared in only 6 games due to a calf injury and posted averages of 8 points, 6 boards, 2.2 blocks and 2.3 assists.
