Denzel Bowles will get another crack at playing in the PBA after unceremoniously getting the boot from TNT in 2017 for being overweight.
The 30-year old former Best Import Awardee was signed by Rain or Shine as its import for the upcoming Commissioner’s Cup which starts 3rd week of May.
Bowles, who has suited up for 4 conferences with the Magnolia franchise, won a title during his inaugural stint in 2012 when the team was still known as B-MEG Llamados. He returned the following season but failed to replicate his earlier feat, bowing to eventual champion Alaska in the semifinal round. His last tour of duty with the team was in 2016 which was cut short as he had to return home to attend to family matters.
The 6-foot-10 product of James Madison University in Virginia, USA got the call once more in 2017, this time from TNT but was sent home without playing a single game after team management deemed him ‘unfit to play’. Bowles, for his part, claimed that the team refused to pay his salary and even stole his shoes.
He is fresh from a stint with Kanazawa Samuraiz, a second division team in the Japanese B.League, where he averaged 21.9 points, 11.4 rebounds and 3.1 assists.
