The Meralco Bolts will end up with the 2nd overall pick in the recently concluded 2018 PBA Rookie Draft.
Ray Parks, son of legendary PBA import Bobby Ray Parks, was drafted by the Blackwater Elite but was subsequently released to the Bolts as part of the three-team deal which also involved the TNT KaTropa.
In return, the Elite is set to receive Jericho Cruz and newly-acquired guard Brian Heruela from the KaTropa while the flagship team of the MVP Group will acquire vastly improved guard Baser Amer from the Bolts.
Heruela, along with David Semerad and San Miguel’s first round pick in the 2020 rookie draft, was part of the package that TNT received in exchange for controversial guard Terrence Romeo in an earlier deal. He will return to the squad which drafted him 26th overall in the 2014 rookie draft.
Amer will take the place of Romeo as the chief backup of Jayson Castro while Parks is expected to form a dreaded backcourt tandem with former Rookie of the Year Chris Newsome.
