Bobby Ray Parks, Jr. is set to join the team that drafted him 2nd overall in the 2018 PBA Rookie Draft after Alab Pilipinas got the early boot from Hong Kong Eastern in the quarterfinal round of the ASEAN Basketball League (ABL).
Alab, the defending champions in the regional cage league, were surprisingly swept by Hong Kong in a best-of-three series.
Parks’ agent and Alab owner Charlie Dy confirmed that his client is finally ready to join the Blackwater Elite.
Dy said that the Elite gave Parks ample time to rest and recover before joining the team’s preparations for the upcoming Commissioner’s Cup.
Silliman Sy [Blackwater team manager] told me that they will resume practice on April 8 but they’ll give him time to recover. So, most likely, after Holy Week na,” Dy added.
The 26-year old son of legendary PBA import Bobby Parks missed the entire first conference due to prior commitment with Alab. He was reportedly involved in a three-team trade involving the Elite, and sister teams Meralco & TNT with the younger Parks ending up with the Bolts.
The deal, however, fell through and the question now is whether or not it will be revived since Parks is not tied up with another league anymore.
The guessing game begins.
