RR Pogoy and Jason Castro took turns in delivering the goods as TNT KaTropa outlasted Governors Cup champion Magnolia Pambansang Manok, 80-75, in the PBA Philippine Cup at the MOA Arena in Pasay City Sunday.
Pogoy scattered 26 points including five points in the extra period while Castro fired away 24, including 20 in the second half, to power the KaTropa back to a win after dropping their last game against the NLEX Road Warriors.
Troy Rosario also played a key role as the KaTropa beat the Hotshots in their debut in PBA Season 44.
Pogoy, Castro and Rosario combined for more than three-fourths of TNT’s output in the game as the KaTropa got back on the winning track and moved notches up to fourth place at 3-3.
“Champion team ang kalaban namin na-very steady. We stuck with the system, hindi kami bumitaw. May lapses, may miscommunications but we came through in the end,” said TNT coach Bong Ravena.
“It’s an important game and we took advantage of the Hotshots’ first game in the season. Tsinaga namin, at buti nakuha namin sa huli,” Ravena also said.
