San Miguel Alab Pilipinas did not have the same sort of fire they had last year and opened the new year with a sorry loss, 93-98, at the hands of Macau, Sunday at Filoil Flying V Centre.
Misfiring all game long and making errors down the stretch, the Filipinos saw their four-game winning streak come to a close and their standing drop to 4-2.
Nick King was the lone Philippine player who was effective and efficient as he topped the scoring column with 33 points on top of 12 rebounds and four assists.
Khalif Wyatt and Jason Brickman both struggled, however, with the former finishing with 15 points in 3-of-12 shooting and the latter ending with seven markers in 3-of-8 shooting.
Maltese Sam Deguara didn’t get going as well and wound up with just seven points all while having to play through foul trouble.
