Game 5 hero Scottie Thompson vowed to stay aggressive on Wednesday when Barangay Ginebra goes for the kill against defending champion San Miguel in Game 6 and capture the PBA Commissioner’s Cup crown.
Thompson rescued the Kings from a five-point deficit with three minutes left by scoring six of his team’s last nine points to seal an 87-83 win in Game 5 Sunday night at the Smart Araneta Coliseum, including a bank shot that made it 84-83 with 36.0 seconds left in the fourth quarter.
He finished with 20 points and 11 rebounds for his best game of the series, but Thompson couldn’t promise a fitting sequel for Ginebra’s possible clincher in the midweek clash at the Mall of Asia Arena.
“No expectations para sa akin. Sa akin, expect niyo ako na maging aggressive,” Thompson told reporters inside the press room after Ginebra took a 3-2 lead in the Finals.
