Blackwater Elite big man James Sena was thrown out of the game during their match against Brgy. Ginebra San Miguel after being charged with a landing-spot foul on Jeff Chan. It was classified by game officials as a Flagrant Foul Penalty 2 since Chan was hurt from the incident.
The offense carried with it an automatic fine of P20,000 but doesn’t come with suspension.
Based on the replays, Sena looked like he intentionally planted his left foot exactly on the landing-spot of Chan after the Brgy. Ginebra gunner elevated for a three-pointer early in the payoff period of their match which was won by the Elite in overtime, 108-107.
Sena, however, defended the move saying he was actually trying to avoid a similar incident which happened against NLEX center Asi Taulava wherein he was also called for a landing-spot infraction. He claimed that he tried to prevent a repeat of the same scenario but was just too late.
Yun yung iniisip ko,” explained the 31-year old native of Agoo, La Union.
