CHRISTIAN Standhardinger provided the energy and inspiration in San Miguel’s PBA Governors Cup debut, a stirring 125-112 thrashing of NLEX Saturday night at the Smart Araneta Coliseum.
The 27-year-old rookie Fil-German opted to still suit up for the Petron Saturday Special game despite just arriving in the country a few hours earlier from Jakarta, Indonesia during the 18th Asian Games.
And Standhardinger never let fatigue got in the way as he produced a career-high and 11 rebounds in leading the Beermen to the victory.
Coach Leo Austria said the team was aware the 6-foot-7 freshman will be coming for the game, but left it up to him on whether he will play or not.
“But I know he’s a warrior. At talagang passion niya ang maglaro ng maglaro,” said Austria of Standhardinger, who arrived at the Big Dome just when the Beermen were warming up for the game.
