Former Jose Rizal University standout Teytey Teodoro has agreed to a one-conference deal with 2018 PBA Commissioners’ Cup champion Brgy. Ginebra San Miguel.
The 24-year old Teodoro, who Brgy. Ginebra coach Time Cone described as a Willie Miller play-alike, was drafted 23rd overall by Columbuan Dyip in the league’s 2018 Rookie Draft but was left unsigned.
Cone plans to use the crafty guard as a filler for shooter Jeff Chan who is still recovering from an operation to remove bone spurs from his foot.
Aside from Chan, Julian Sargent is still out of the Kings’ roster due to a shoulder injury which he sustained last year while playing for NorthPort Batang Pier.
Teodoro played and impressed Cone during the team’s tune-up game win over the Phoenix Pulse.
Incidentally, Brgy. Ginebra draftee Matt Salem was signed to a one-year contract by the Blackwater Elite after failing to come to terms with the league’s most popular team.
According to sources, the former NU Bulldog was offered a one-year contract but only as a practice player prompting the 6-foot-3 forward to politely turn it down.
Salem eventually asked team management’s permission to try his luck with other teams and was immediately granted.
