San Miguel guard Terrence Romeo was slapped with a P20,000 fine by the PBA for his headbutt on NLEX counterpart Philip Paniamogan during their 2019 Governors’ Cup game last October 4 at the Coca-Cola Arena in Dubai.
The incident happened during the 10:23 mark of the payoff period with the Road Warriors holding a precarious 2-point lead, 74-72.
The 27-year old Romeo snapped his head back which hit the defending Paniamogan right on the face during an inbound play. Game officials called a Flagrant Foul Penalty 2 on the 2019 Commissioner’s Cup Finals MVP which resulted in his ejection.
League commissioner Willie Marcial bared that he talked to Romeo right after the match and that he was already informed of the forthcoming sanction.
The former NorthPort and TNT player, however, was spared of suspension.
Meanwhile, the league is still studying the case of SMB bruiser Kelly Nabong who was tossed out during the 4:04 mark of the 3rd period after incurring two technical fouls due to incessant complaining.
