San Miguel guard Terrence Romeo has just won his very first championship since playing organized basketball and is savoring every minute of it.
The 27-year old Romeo, who is just in his first season with the powerhouse Beermen after being traded by the TNT KaTropa last December for David Semerad, Brian Heruela and a future first-round pick, admitted that the last time he was part of a championship team was still in the barangay level.
Simula high school, college, PBA D-League days, lahat. Ito yung unang championship ko sa PBA ko nakuha,” shared the native of Imus, Cavite.
Romeo finished with only 4 points in the title-clinching game but had 7 boards and 3 assists and more importantly provided the pesky defense against Magnolia’s bevy of guards led by Mark Barroca and Jio Jalalon to claim his first title in just his first conference with the team.
Kahit saan, kahit pagkabata mo, kahit saang bagay. Yung pinaka-una yung pinakamasarap,” said Romeo.
“Maraming sacrifices, maraming learnings.
Having experienced the feeling of being a champion, Romeo confessed that he still yearns for more despite his earlier pronouncement that he will retire once he captures the elusive crown.
“Biro lang yun. Masarap mag-champion. Gusto ko pa makakuha ulit.”
