Fresh from a disappointing stint in the 2019 FIBA Basketball World Cup wherein Gilas Pilipinas lost all of its games and finished dead last in field of 32 nations, Japeth Aguilar was given more time to rest by Brgy. Ginebra coach Tim Cone.
“We gave him a number of days off. It will be sometime before the opening and after our second Korea game. He needs to take a break. We want him to come back fresh-minded,” said Cone.
The league’s most decorated bench tactician bared that he is giving Aguilar all the time he needs to rest and recover from the grueling national team schedule.
“We are going to give him as much time as we can. It’s only fair. The players took three weeks off. He is going to get maybe five six days off. He is really lugi. We will try to make it up when we can,” said the 61-year old American mentor.
“We want him to come back fresh-minded and he is going to be in great shape. We won’t be worried about that so he just needs to be fresh minded and focused and get over the experience from the World Cup, and get focused on what we do as a team,” added Cone.
