TNT extended its winning streak in the 2019 PBA Commissioner’s Cup to 6 games after dealing the Rain or Shine Elasto Painters a 102-81 beating, Wednesday night at the Smart Araneta Coliseum.
Hardly showing effects of a 12-day layoff, the KaTropa dropped 32 points in the 2nd period and turned a 1-point 1st quarter deficit into a 14-point advantage going into the halftime break.
The Elasto Painters showed some semblance of life in the 3rd canto as they were able to cut a 25-point margin down to only 7 going into the final frame but fall apart once more in the payoff period as Terrence Jones proved too much to handle.
The 27-year old former NBA player for the Houston Rockets finished with 33 points, 21 rebounds, 13 assists, 4 steals and 2 blocks in 45 minutes of action.
“It’s the great chemistry. We’re communicating well and we make plays for one another. We’re happy to play with one another, and everybody’s happy for each other,” said Jones shortly after the match.
Roger Pogoy backstopped Jones with 19 points, 7 rebounds, 2 assists, 3 steals and 2 blocks while Jayson Castro and Don Trollano added 15 and 13 points, respectively.
Denzel Bowles paced Rain or Shine with 28 points but failed to get enough local support as only Javee Mocon was able to score in double figures. The 24-year old rookie out of San Beda University finished with 19 points, 10 rebounds, 5 assists and 2 steals.
