Surging TNT KaTropa reclaimed the top spot in the elimination round of the 2019 PBA Commissioner’s Cup by outlasting the skidding Columbian Dyip, 109-102, Friday night at the Cuneta Astrodome in Pasay City.
Terrence Jones led all scorers with a game-high 39 points, 14 in the pivotal fourth period where the KaTropa broke the game wide open after a nip-and-tuck affair during the first three quarters.
The former NBA player for the Houston Rockets added 17 rebounds, 7 blocks, 6 assists and a steal in 46 minutes of display of all-around brilliance.
The victory gave TNT solo leadership with a 7-1 card and pushed Columbian deeper in the team standings at 1-5.
“We started the game slow. Medyo we were struggling plus give credit to Columbian for giving us a hard time. They are young, mga wingman nila, we were having a hard time defending. Good thing we came back in the second half,” said the winning coach Bong Ravena.
Jayson Castro celebrated his return to action after tying the know with his long-time partner last week by pouring in 22 points to go along with 5 rebounds, 6 assists and 2 steals. Roger Pogoy added 16 markers while Troy Rosario and Ryan Reyes contributed 8 apiece.
Lester Prosper led the Dyip with 37 points and 20 rebounds while rookie CJ Perez added 22 points.
