TNT set to acquire Carl Bryan Cruz from Blackwater

Former Gilas Pilipinas forward Carl Bryan Cruz is moving over to the TNT Tropang Giga.

The 30-year old Cruz, who entered the PBA via the Alaska Aces during the special rookie draft in 2016, was dealt by Blackwater to the flagship team of the MVP group for reserve big man Chris Javier and a future first-round pick.

Seldon-used Bossing rookie Mark Acuno was included in the mix and is also headed to the reigning Philippine Cup champs.

Trade papers have already been forwarded to the league’s four-man trade committee for approval.

Cruz, who was a fixture for the national team during the time of Chot Reyes, submitted 7-game averages of 8.1 points on 33.3% shooting from beyond the arc to go with 2.7 rebounds for the Bossing last conference.

Javier, on the other hand, was drafted 5th overall during the 2016 regular draft by the Star Hotshots and spent one season with the franchise. The former University of the East standout was then dealt to the Bossing along with Allein Maliksi for Kyle Pascual and Bambam Gamalinda.

He was released after two seasons and was picked up by the Tropang Giga from the unrestricted free agent list prior to the start of the 2020 PBA bubble in Clark, Pampanga.
