Barangay Ginebra showed an initial glimpse of what it can do with the addition of Stanley Pringle in the Gin Kings mix, pulling off a lopsided 100-85 win over NLEX in the PBA Commissioner’s Cup at the Batangas City Coliseum here Sunday night.
Unleashing their firepower together in a decisive blitzkrieg in the third quarter, Pringle, Justin Brownlee and LA Tenorio powered Ginebra to a 27-point spread at 76-49, and the Kings coasted to a second straight win and to a 4-3 overall record.
Pringle, Brownlee and Tenorio highlighted the Kings’ third-quarter breakaway with a combined five three-point conversions, and Ginebra sustained a dominant ride en route to tying Blackwater at fourth place behind NorthPort (7-1), TNT (7-1) and Magnolia (3-2).
The Road Warriors stayed in the cellar at 1-7, missing a follow-up to its lone win versus the Meralco Bolts the last time out.
Pringle was his usual self in his first outing as a Gin King, coming through with 16 points, eight rebounds, three assists and two steals to the delight of the Ginebra throngs in this Batangas City playing venue.
