Top seed TNT KaTropa thwarted No. 8 Alaska Milk’s upset bid, overcoming a 15-point deficit to hack out a 104-93 win and set up a highly anticipated semifinal matchup with titleholder Barangay Ginebra in the PBA Philippine Cup Wednesday night at the Smart Araneta Coliseum.

The KaTropa survived a scare in the matchup where they suffered a shattering 72-108 loss Sunday then faced a great danger on the Aces’ swashbuckling start in the do-or-die.

It was a long anxious moments for the KaTropa but they persevered to fight back, catching up at the start of the fourth and roaring on to save the match and series for a shot at the finals.

TNT and Ginebra slug it out in a best-of-five semifinal playoff with the winner advancing to the titular series versus the victor in the other semis matchup that will pit be either SMB-Rain or Shine or SMB-Blackwater.

Terrence Jones made the needed turnaround from his lackadaisical game the last time, producing near triple-double numbers with 37 points, 22 rebounds and nine assists to save the KaTropa from what could have been a sorry exit in the tourney.
