CJ Perez led those who gave Kyle Barone a nice send-off before Columbian unveils a new import.
Perez scored a new career-high 39 points and the Dyip wasted little time running over the hapless NLEX Road Warriors to the tune of 120-105 Saturday in the PBA Commissioner’s Cup at the Mall of Asia Arena.
Barone did his part with 31 points and eight rebounds before being replaced by journeyman Lester Prosper, who is set to arrive Tuesday.
“Our new import will help us play defense kas iyon ang spevialty niya,” was how Columbian coach Johnedel Cardel described the 30-year-old Prosper, a Domincan Republic native who is a southpaw and known to be a shotblocker.
“Also, he can give us the energy para sa mga locals, ganahan sila,” added Cardel, whose team next plays Magnolia on June 16.
