The usual suspects delivered as the Magnolia Pambansang Manok Hotshots sustained their hot streak and solidified their bid for the important incentive in the PBA Governors Cup quarterfinals.

Alaska coach Alex Compton knew so well import Romeo Travis and the Magnolia guards were the men to watch in their showdown.

The Aces had the right anticipation but failed in execution, allowing Travis, Jio Jalalon, Paul Lee and Mark Barroca to do their stuffs in an 83-73 victory that firmed up the Hotshots’ place at the helm entering the homestretch of the single-round-robin tourney.

Travis came through with 19 points and the same number of rebounds while Jalalon, Lee and Barroca combined for 44 markers as the red-hot Hotshots chalked up a fifth straight win and seventh in eight games in all at the Smart Araneta Coliseum Sunday.

The Aces actually waged a fightback from 20 points down at 31-51 but the Hotshots kept their poise and composure, and went to Lee and Jalalon for the big buckets that sealed the deal.
