San Miguel nailed its first back-to-back wins of the conference by routing Phoenix Pulse, 128-108, in the 2019 PBA Commissioner’s Cup, Wednesday night at the Smart Araneta Coliseum.
Chris McCullough followed up his impressive debut with another scintillating performance as the former NBA player scattered 37 points to go along with 13 rebounds, 4 assists and a steal in 33 minutes of play.
The Beermen, thus, improved to 4-5 which is currently good for 7th place in the team standings while the loss dropped the Fuel Masters one rung below their tormentors and tied with idle Alaska at 4-6.
“Finally, naka-back-to-back kami. Going to the next game, it gives us a lot of confidence. They lift our morale. Badly-needed yung win. I hope we can sustain,” said SMB coach Leo Austria during the post-game interview.
Kelly Nabong was thrown out of the match in the 3-minute mark of the final frame after being called for a flagrant foul on a driving Jorey Napoles and then a technical foul for using profane language.
“It seems like it is unfair. They aren’t even watching the game. They are just watching the back of my jersey,” said Nabong on his ejection.
