Meralco got off to another slow start but this time finished strong to fashion a come-from-behind 88-77 victory over bad-finishing TNT Wednesday in the PBA Philippine Cup at the Cuneta Astrodome.
The KaTropa was on fire early and even posted a 30-9 lead, but just as quickly faded it in the face of a determined and sustained fightback by the Bolts.
Meralco coach Norman Black said it was a good thing his players’ bad offensive patch came at the start of the game and that their defense clicked into place when needed.
“We’ve been getting off to bad starts in this conference,” said Black, whose team missed its first nine shots of the game and consequently trailed 0-13.
“I tried to switch up our starting lineup for this game, but we still got off to a bad start.
