Stanley Pringle may not yet be at full strength but readily showed his explosiveness Wednesday.
Showing little ill effects of the ankle surgery he went through in-between conferences, Pringle scored 22 points in leading NorthPort to a 110-86 win over TNT in the PBA Commissioner’s Cup at the Mall of Asia Arena.
Robert Bolick, Sean Anthony, Prince Ibeh and Mo Tautuaa also did their part as the Batang Pier came up with one scoring surge after another in the second half to notch their third win in as many games and grab a share of the lead with idle Blackwater.
“‘We almost played a perfect game, especially on defense,” gushed NorthPort coach Pido Jarencio, referring to his players’ concerted efforts to stymie TNT import Terrence Jones.
Jones was held to only 17 points, 25 below his average, and 14 rebounds. He also issued five assists but committed six turnovers before being pulled out for good and his team down 82-104, only 2:36 left.
