If the Philippine Basketball Association (PBA) resumes its 45th season later this year, the players hope to get enough time to regain their fitness before going back to the court.
This was the sentiment of Rain or Shine’s Beau Belga and Magnolia’s Paul Lee, as the two discussed the possibility of playing again during a stay-at-home episode of “Extra Rice.”
“Noong una, parang ready na ‘yung team namin eh. Talagang ready na maglaro ng All-Filipino,” said Lee, whose team suffered a 94-78 defeat to San Miguel Beer in the first — and only — game that the PBA held so far this season.
“Pero sa nangyari sa atin ngayon, ‘di ko alam kung paano ang magiging style ng PBA, kung babalik ba kaagad or bibigyan tayo ng time para mag-prepare ulit,” he admitted.
Lee said that rushing back to the court is a recipe for disaster as the players are no longer in game condition. A two-week preparation is not enough for them to regain their fitness, and playing in those circumstances will be risky.
