WATCH: PBA Top Plays of the Day [September 25, 2019]

Grand slam-chasing San Miguel Beer stamped its class on Phoenix Pulse, capping a night of routs in the PBA Governors Cup Wednesday with a 130-119 spilling of the Fuel Masters at the Smart Araneta Coliseum.

Dez Wells more than held his own against Eugene Phelps in a duel between the tourney’s shortest and tallest imports, with the SMB import piling up 42 points, eight rebounds and seven assists to lead his team to an auspicious start in pursuit of the last jewel to a possible Triple Crown.

Alex Cabagnot, Arwind Santos and June Mar Fajardo had their big numbers to help Wells to a remarkable night in his PBA debut.

Wells started slow with just four points in the first quarter before kicking his game into a high gear, scattering 18 markers in the second period as the Beermen headed to the halftime break with a 70-55 margin.

The Fuel Masters charged back into the game as they got to within four midway through the third but the Beermen unleashed a decisive counterattack to rip the game wide open again at 105-83 at the end of the third.
