Jeremiah Gray rejected Hong Kong Eastern’s Jon Siu’s potential game-winning triple as San Miguel Alab Pilipinas averted a massive 19-point collapse to book a 77-76 win over the home squad, Thursday night in Season 10 of the ASEAN Basketball League at the Southorn Stadium.
The clutch defensive gem by the high-flying Fil-Am guard was his 3rd for the match to go along with 11 points, 5 boards and 5 assists as the Philippine representative to the regional meet rebounded from a horrible loss to Singapore to improve to 6-3 which is good for 2nd spot in the team standings behind Mono Vampire’s pace-setting 8-3 record.
Nick King led the Jimmy Alapag-mentored squad with 24 points and 7 rebounds while newcomer Prince Williams debuted with 14 markers to go along with 6 boards and 4 assists.
Sam Deguara added 14 points and 7 boards while Jason Brickman finished with 2 points on a measly 1-for-9 shooting but had a game-high 16 assists.
Alab was able to establish a 19-point advantage with about 3 minutes into the third period but a 30-point barrage by Hong Kong reduced the deficit to just 3 heading into the final frame.
Brandis Raley-Ross led the home team with 33 points while fellow World Imports Brandon Costner and Michael Holyfield chipped in 19 and 13 markers, respectively.
