Khalif Wyatt played the hero’s role once more for San Miguel Alab Pilipinas after the 28-year American drained a clutch triple which gave the visiting team the lead and eventually the win over host Formosa Dreamers, 100-99, in Season 10 of the ASEAN Basketball League, Sunday at the Changhua Stadium in Taiwan.
After Dreamers World Import Anthony Tucker buried back-to-back treys to give the home team a 99-97 lead with 1:18 left on the game clock, Wyatt responded with a three of his own from the corner to give the lead back to the Philippine side. The Jimmy Alapag-mentored squad then held on to the win after Tucker missed on a three-pointer in the ensuing play.
San Miguel Alab picked up its fourth straight win to improve to 4-1, good for a share of top spot with Mono Vampire, while Formosa absorbed its 4th loss in 6 games.
Sam Deguara led the team in scoring with 20 points to go along with 9 rebounds while Nick King added 19 markers. Wyatt finished with 17 points while Jason Brickman and Lawrence Domingo chipped in 12 and 10 points, respectively.
Jordan Tolbert paced Formosa with 25 points while Tucker notched a triple-double with 22 points, 11 rebounds and 11 assists.
San Miguel Alab takes a two-week break before taking on the Macau Wolf Warriors on Sunday, January 5, 2020 at a still unannounced home venue.
