Rain or Shine came out extra-motivated from its loss to Blackwater the last time out, and rebounded with a 108-98 upset of titleholder San Miguel Beer in the PBA Philippine Cup at the Ynares Sports Center here Friday night.
Rookie Javee Mocon played like a grizzled warrior, coming through with 18 points and 17 rebounds, while James Yap top scored with 21 markers as the E-Painters added to the growing list of the reigning champs’ tormentors in the tourney.
Maverick Ahanmisi, Norbert Torres, Jewel Ponferada and Beau Belga also had sterling performances for the E-Painters who dealt the Beermen a second straight loss after a 93-104 setback at the hands of the TNT KaTropa on Sunday.
For the record, the Beermen had not suffered back-to-back defeats in the elims of the last four all-Filipino tourney.
