After two significant seasons with the Meralco Bolts, John Pinto is moving over to Brgy. Ginebra.
The 31-year old Pinto, who became an unrestricted free agent after his contract with the MVP-owned franchise expired along with the year 2021, agreed to a three-year deal with the Gin Kings for an undisclosed amount.
The signing should augur well for the backcourt of the Governors’ Cup defending champions especially with Stanley Pringle ruled out for the rest of the season due to a knee injury.
The 5-foot-11 playmaker out of Arellano University saw action in 2 games for the Bolts in the ongoing conference and averaged 9.0 points, 5.5 assists, 2.5 rebounds, and 1.0 steal.
During the 2021 Philippine Cup, the 19th overall pick of the 2014 draft submitted 19-game averages of 8.3 points, 3.1 rebounds, and 1.9 assists. He dropped a career-high 24 points in Game 2 of the team’s semifinal series against the Magnolia Hotshots.
Aside from Meralco, the Davao City native also saw action for the GlobalPort Batang Pier, Mahindra Enforcer and Blackwater Elite.
