Jordan Adams drops 50 as Beermen dominate import-less Bossing

San Miguel surged past a sluggish first half, finding their rhythm in the third period to ultimately overpower an all-Filipino Blackwater team, 128-108, in the PBA Governors’ Cup at the Smart Araneta Coliseum on Sunday.

Imports Jordan Adams and CJ Perez spearheaded the Beermen’s explosive third-quarter surge, propelling the team to a second consecutive victory following a tight 111-107 win over Phoenix Super LPG in their season opener.

In the pivotal third period, Adams contributed a remarkable 16 points while Perez added 11, culminating in a combined total of 64 points for the duo. This performance propelled the Beermen into a three-way tie for the top spot in Group B alongside the Rain or Shine Elasto Painters and the NLEX Road Warriors, each holding a record of 2-0.

Coach Jorge Gallent and his squad celebrated back-to-back wins as they prepared for an anticipated clash against Barangay Ginebra on Tuesday, also at the Big Dome. Following this matchup, which includes a 5 p.m. showdown between Converge and TNT, the Governors’ Cup action will shift to the Ninoy Aquino Stadium in Malate, Manila.

Adams delivered a stunning performance, finishing with a double-double of 50 points and 11 rebounds, thoroughly dominating a Blackwater team reliant on an all-Filipino lineup due to the early exit of ineffective import Ricky Ledo.

Led by Troy Rosario, Sedrick Barefield, James Kwekuteye, and Christian David, the Bossing initially fought valiantly but faltered after halftime, resulting in their third consecutive loss in as many games.

Rosario emerged as the top scorer for coach Jeff Cariaso’s squad, contributing 25 points, while Barefield (16), Kwekuteye (11), Jewel Ponferrada (11), and David (10) all provided valuable support.

The Beermen proved too formidable as they regained their composure in the third quarter, dominating the Bossing with a 38-20 onslaught.

Perez concluded the game with 14 points and seven rebounds, while June Mar Fajardo added a solid 13 points and 10 boards. Jericho Cruz also showcased his scoring prowess with 12 points, and both Kris Rosales and Vic Manuel chipped in with 10 each.
