Utah Jazz star Jordan Clarkson along with 7-foot-3 Filipino prodigy Kai Sotto were named to the Gilas Pilipinas squad for the game against Lebanon in the 4th window of the FIBA World Cup Asian qualifiers.
The match against the silver medalists in the 2022 FIBA Asia Cup will be held at the Nouhad Nawfal Sports Complex in Beirut on the 25th of August (August 26, 2:00am Philippine time).
Aside from Clarkson and Sotto, also named to the team were Chris Newsome of Meralco, Jamie Malonzo of NorthPort, Calvin Oftana of NLEX, PBA free agent Roosevelt Adams, Carl Tamayo of the University of the Philippines, Japan B.League imports Dwight Ramos, brothers Kiefer and Thirdy Ravena, and Bobby Ray Parks.
Samahang Basketbol ng Pilipinas (SBP) executive director and spokesperson Sonny Barrios made the announcement on Monday during a special Philippine Sportswriters Association (PSA) forum.
Gilas program director Chot Reyes will call the shots for the start of the second round with the team carrying an even 2-2 record.
The final 12-man roster for the game against the Cedars will be announced on Wednesday evening.
Gilas will leave for Beirut on Monday midnight and return home on Friday for its home game against Saudi Arabia on Monday, August 29 at the SM Mall of Asia Arena in Pasay City.
