WATCH: William Navarro Highlights [Gilas Pilipinas vs India | July 15, 2022]
Gilas Pilipinas continued with its mastery over India by pulling off a 42-point rout, 101-59, Friday in the 2022 FIBA Asia Cup at the Istora Stadium in Jakarta, Indonesia.
William Navarro paced the Philippine national basketball team with 18 points on a sizzling 6-of-7 shooting clip with 2-of-3 coming from long distance. Thirdy Ravena added 17 with 12 coming during a game-deciding breakaway in the first half.
“We started the game a little bit sloppy, a little bit too loose,” said Ravena shortly after the lopsided match.
“Luckily we were able to bounce back from that in the second half especially we talked about it in the first half – that we played a little, a little too down, little too grumpy,” he added.
“It just goes to show that when you play as a team and you just enjoy the success of each other, follow the system, and trust one another, things will definitely pay off.”
Bobby Ray Parks, Jr. added 12 markers while Rhenz Abando and Carl Tamayo chipped in 10 and 9 points, respectively.
Gilas improved to 1-1 while the Indians dropped further down to 0-2.
In the other group play, Lebanon assumed solo leadership with a 2-0 card via shocking 15-point demolition of New Zealand.
Gilas will try to duplicate the feat of the Lebanese when they clash with the Kiwis on Sunday, July 17, 9:00pm at the same venue.
