Justin Brownlee confirms upcoming stint in Indonesia

Justin Brownlee’s decision to join the Indonesian Basketball League as an import was confirmed by the Gilas Pilipinas forward himself during a press briefing on Thursday.

While observing the Choco Mucho-Cignal game in the 2024 Premier Volleyball League All-Filipino Conference at the PhilSports Arena, Brownlee made the announcement.

“Yeah, I will be playing abroad. I should be leaving on Sunday,” said Brownlee.

Despite the revelation, Brownlee remained tight-lipped about specific details surrounding his upcoming venture. Nevertheless, the resident Brgy. Ginebra import’s move was met with words of encouragement and support from both the Gin Kings and Gilas Pilipinas head coach, Tim Cone.

“We’re happy for him. Gives him some extra income and helps him stay sharp and in shape,” said Cone.

Standing at 6-foot-6, Brownlee’s presence and skill set are undoubtedly valuable assets, as he prepares to represent the Philippines in a foreign league.

Assuring fans and supporters, Coach Cone emphasized that Brownlee would return in time to rejoin Ginebra for the next conference, or to continue representing the national team.

“He’ll be back for Ginebra in the next import conference, or in June for Gilas,” added Cone.

With his versatility and experience on the court, Brownlee’s presence is expected to make a significant impact wherever he plays, showcasing his dedication and commitment to the game.
