NorthPort sends Bolick to NLEX, Trollano ends up with San Miguel

The PBA Commissioner’s Office has officially given the green light to the first major trade of Season 48 involving high-scoring guard Robert Bolick. Originally a trade between NorthPort and NLEX, the deal now includes San Miguel as well.

As per the approved agreement, NorthPort will send Bolick and Kent Salado to NLEX in exchange for Don Trollano, veteran guard Kris Rosales, promising young center Ben Adamos, and the Road Warriors’ second round draft pick for Season 49.

With this trade, Bolick seamlessly fills the void left by the injured Kevin Alas, who will be sidelined for the rest of the season due to an ACL tear.

The 28-year-old Bolick is coming off an impressive season in the PBA where he achieved All-Star status. Throughout the year, he averaged a career-high of 20.4 points in 29 games, along with 6.1 assists and 5.0 rebounds in over 38 minutes of play.

On the other hand, Trollano, who is 31 years old, saw his time with the Batang Pier as just a temporary stop. He was immediately dealt to the injury-plagued Beermen in exchange for Allyn Bulanadi, Jeepy Faundo, and the team’s Season 51 second round pick.

This move brings much-needed firepower to the league’s most successful franchise, who are currently missing key players such as June Mar Fajardo, Terrence Romeo, and Jeron Teng due to injuries.

As a result of their recent loss to the league-leading Magnolia, San Miguel has dropped to the sixth spot in the standings with an even 3-3 record.
