Terrafirma sends CJ Perez to San Miguel in blockbuster deal

Terrafirma is set to part with CJ Perez after the 6-year old PBA franchise agreed to send the top overall pick of the 2018 draft to San Miguel in a blockbuster trade which was consummated Friday afternoon.
The deal was first reported by Philstar.com.
In return, the Beermen will send Gelo Alolino, Matt Ganuelas-Rosser, Russel Escoto and the team’s first round pick (8th) in the 2021 rookie draft to the Dyip.
The swap, however, is still subject to approval by the PBA trade committee.
The 27-year old Perez, who is currently with Gilas Pilipinas at the Inspire Sports Academy in Calamba, Laguna, is part of the training pool for the third and final window of the FIBA Asia Cup qualifiers which is set on February 18 to 22 in Doha, Qatar.
He led the league in scoring during the PBA bubble in Clark, Pampanga with an average of 24.36 points per game to go along with 6.82 rebounds, 4.27 assists and 2.0 steals.
Sources claim that the Dyip initially asked for Von Pessumal but was immediately thumbed down by the Beermen as high-ranking SMC officials refused to part ways with the sharp-shooting guard.
With the top overall pick in the upcoming draft which is scheduled on March 14, the Dyip are reportedly going after 3×3 star Joshua Munzon.
The Beermen, on the other hand, will take their first crack at the largest-ever draft pool in the 3rd round.
