TNT acquires 4th overall pick in upcoming draft from NLEX in three-team trade with Blackwater
TNT Tropang Giga boosted its stock in the upcoming PBA rookie draft by securing the 4th overall pick from the NLEX Road Warriors.
The flagship team of the MVP group made the big move just days after star guard Ray Parks Jr. announced his decision to skip the upcoming PBA season due to personal reasons.
The Road Warriors got the ball rolling by sending its 2nd pick in the first round, 4th overall, to the Bossing for guard Roi Sumang, forward Don Trollano, center Morris Shaw and the Bossing’s 2022 second round draft pick.
Blackwater then shipped the newly acquired pick to TNT in exchange for guard Simon Enciso, forward David Semerad and the Tropang Giga’s 2023 first round draft pick and 2024 second round pick.
Both deals were instantly approved by the PBA trade committee.
The three-team trade came shortly after NLEX head coach Yeng Guiao hinted that there were “lots of things happening” ahead of the March 14 draft during Wednesday’s episode of The Game.
“The draft is going to take place on Sunday. I like to probably give a heads-up to our fans that there’s a lot of things that’s going to happen from tonight until probably Saturday,” disclosed the mercurial mentor.
Returning TNT coach Chot Reyes is reportedly targeting Mikey Williams, a former NCAA Division I and NBA G League cager, to take-over the spot of Parks.
