TNT set to join Meralco in Ilocos Norte, NLEX headed to Clark
Days after Meralco departed for Laoag, Ilocos Norte to start training camp for the upcoming season, TNT is set to follow on Wednesday once all members of the team test negative in their RT-PCR tests.
The development was disclosed by head coach Chot Reyes who added that they will stay there until the end of May.
The Bolts, on the other hand, arrived in the northern provincial capital last Sunday and will head back to Manila on May 26.
The Tropang Giga will bring along a league-mandated maximum of 25 personnel which consists of players, coaching staff and team officials.
Leading the squad are mainstays Jayson Castro, Roger Pogoy, Troy Rosario, Poy Erram, Ryan Reyes, Jay Washington, and the returning Kelly Williams.
Completing the cast are Kib Montalbo, Almond Vosotros, Brian Heruela, Jayjay Alejandro, Dave Marcelo, Chris Javier, Glenn Khobuntin, and Lervin Flores.
Mikey Williams, the team’s top pick in the PBA Season 46 Draft, is still in the US and won’t be able to join the team inside the bubble.
“No, he’s not yet here,” said Reyes.
Upon his arrival in the country, the 29-year old Fil-Am will need to undergo at least a week of quarantine and yield a negative swab test.
NLEX, meanwhile, has identified Clark, Pampanga as the site of their training camp.
“PBA just informed us we still cannot practice pending clarification from the DOH/IATF. So practice (in the NCR) are still suspended. We plan to go out of town by Wednesday or Thursday for practice in Clark,” wrote head coach Yeng Guiao on the Road Warriors’ website.
“If we are not allowed to practice in NCR this week, uwian lang (kami). Last week of May, we will stay there for another week,” he added.
