Brgy. Ginebra draftees Ken Holmqvist, Brian Enriquez will be signed, assures Tim Cone

Brgy. Ginebra draftees Ken Holmqvist and Brian Enriquez will soon be signed to rookie deals.

Gin Kings head coach Tim Cone gave the assurance that Holmqvist and Enriquez, drafted 12th and 13th overall, respectively, during the PBA Season 46 draft, will officially be part of the defending Philippine Cup champions.

“For sure, they will be signed. It’s just a matter of when,” said Cone.

“Hopefully soon, but in the meantime, they are participating in our workouts,” added the league’s most successful mentor.

The 25-year old Holmqvist, who stands 6-foot-8 and is Fil-Norwegian, had a brief stint with the Far Eastern University in the UAAP. He was part of the Tamaraws squad which captured the title in Season 78.

He was also a member of the Gilas Pilipinas Cadets team which swept its way to the 2016 SEABA Cup title in Bangkok, Thailand.

The 6-foot-3 Enriquez, meanwhile, is a pure Filipino who was born and raised in Long Beach, California. He played college ball initially for the University of Minnesota and then spent the last two years with William Woods University. He was supposed to play for University of the East in UAAP Season 83 but the league was forced to close shop due to the pandemic.

Cone has earlier expressed his confidence with regards to the capabilities of the two incoming rookies, citing their ability to play multiple positions which he believes will serve the team well in the upcoming PBA season.
