Hotshots sign rookie guards Jerrick Ahanmisi, Loren Brill

Jerrick Ahanmisi is officially on board Magnolia.

The 23-year old Fil-Am out of Adamson University finally signed a two-year deal more than two months after the Hotshots selected him with the 10th overall pick in the PBA Season 46 Draft.

Head coach Chito Victolero confirmed the deal. Terms of the contract, however, were not disclosed.

“I’m very happy because tapos na yung negotiations, and both of us can focus now on our preparations for this conference,” said Victolero.

“Happy ako. And I think ganun din naman si Jerrick,” added the 2018 PBA Coach of the Year.

Ahanmisi, who was a member of the Mythical Five in UAAP Season 81, averaged 13.1 points, 3.6 rebounds, and 1.4 assists in his final year for the Soaring Falcons.

“It feels good. I can breathe a sigh of relief. Now that I’ve signed, I can focus more on how I can help team get to our goal this year, said Ahanmisi during an interview with ESPN5.com”

Aside from the younger brother of Alaska guard Maverick, the Hotshots also signed Loren Brill to a one-year deal.

The 24-year old Brill was taken by NorthPort with the 26th overall pick in the same draft class but was left unsigned. He played three years for Old Dominion University, a US NCAA Division I school.

“Nag-ensayo yan sa amin. Maganda yung resume niya, plus he’s a big guard,” said Victolero on the son of former Northern Cement standout Louie.

“And I think once na makita niya ‘yung larong Pinoy, maka-adjust siya, we’ll try to give him a chance na maano niya,” he added.

Ahanmisi and Brill will join Magnolia’s already-crowded backcourt rotation which boasts of Paul Lee, Mark Barroca, Jio Jalalon, Justin Melton and Mon Abundo.

The Hotshots earlier signed 30th overall pick RR de Leon and 2019 draftee Alvin Capobres to one-year deals.
