Titan Ultra sends rookie Chris Koon to Magnolia for Aris Dionisio

Less than a month into his PBA career, Chris Koon has come face to face with one of the harsh realities of being a professional basketball player.

On Tuesday, the former Ateneo Blue Eagles standout was traded by his new team, Titan Ultra, to Magnolia in exchange for six-year veteran Aris Dionisio. This straightforward one-for-one deal has already received the green light from the PBA trade committee.

Koon was selected No. 4 overall as Titan Ultra’s inaugural pick in the PBA draft, following the acquisition of the NorthPort franchise just weeks prior to the league’s landmark 50th season.

The trade was first reported by Tiebreaker Times.

Shortly after the draft, Koon signed a two-year contract with Titan and has since posted impressive averages of 7.6 points and 4 rebounds across his first five games, though the team has unfortunately dropped four of those contests.

The 6-foot-4 forward seemed to be a promising addition for the Giant Risers, but sources indicate that the trade was part of a ‘request’ made to the new franchise owners during the sale approval process.

In return, the Giant Risers gain Dionisio, a former first-round pick who, despite standing at 6-foot-3, predominantly operates from the perimeter.
