Justin Arana scores 36, leads Team Greats past Team Stalwarts
Team Greats continued their dominance over Team Stalwarts, securing a second consecutive victory with a final score of 142-133 in the thrilling PBA All-Star Blitz Game held at the University of La Salle gymnasium on Saturday night.
Justin Arana was a standout player for Team Greats, showcasing his skills with 36 points and eight rebounds to earn the well-deserved MVP title for the Rookies/Sophomores/Juniors All-Stars category. Arana’s performance was reminiscent of last year’s All-Star edition in Passi City, Iloilo, where he also contributed to Team Greats’ triumph with his outstanding gameplay.
With his impressive 36-point contribution, Arana’s performance stands out as one of the highest-scoring in the Greats vs Stalwarts game since Encho Serrano’s 40-point display in the previous year.
Under the guidance of coach Patrick Partosa, Team Greats claimed the top prize of P100,000 for their stellar performance. Brandon Ganuelas-Rosser, a sophomore player, delivered a strong performance with 23 points, including a couple of impressive 3-point dunks. Jerrick Ahanmisi also made a significant impact with 21 points, including a successful four-point shot during a crucial third-quarter run that solidified Team Greats’ lead.
Despite their efforts, Team Stalwarts, led by coach Peter Martin, fell short in the game. TNT rookie Kim Aurin put up 23 points, while Obstacle Challenge champion JM Calma added 22 points in a valiant but unsuccessful effort.
Team Stalwarts received P50,000 for their efforts, but it was Team Greats who emerged victorious once again, showcasing their strength and skill in the All-Star Blitz Game.
